Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases
Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases was founded in 1981 by academician of Chinese Academy of Science and famous cardiovascular surgeon Yingkai Wu, and is a non-profitable research institute focusing on the basic and clinical research of heart, lung and blood vessel diseases. Since the foundation, Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases and Capital Medical University Affiliated Beijing Anzhen Hospital had been coordinating in administrative management and disciplinary development, and formed a combo of scientific research, teaching, prevention, medical care and international exchange.
The institute’s current administrative team includes: Professor Hongjia Zhang (Director and President of Anzhen Hospital), Professor Yujie Zhou (Deputy Directorand Vice President of Anzhen Hospital), Professor Jie Du (Deputy Director).Director office supports and assists the directors in their routine administration. The institute has 9 departments: Upper Respiratory Tract Dysfunction Related Cardiovascular Diseases Laboratory, Vascular Biology Laboratory, Department of Epidemiology, Department of Hypertension Research, Department of Atherosclerosis Research, Department of Biomedical Engineering, Department of Community Health Research, Department of Pharmacology and Department of Molecular Biology and Cytology. The Institute also has 2 multidisciplinary platforms: Upper Respiratory Tract Research and Cardiovascular Translational Research; 4 service facilities, including Experiment Center, Experimental Animal Center, Health Food Function Evaluation Laboratory and the library; and hosts editorial offices for 4 professional journals: Journal of Cardiovascular and Pulmonary Diseases, Beijing Biomedical Engineering, China Medicine and Chinese Journal of Thoracic and Cardiovascular Surgery.
In Nov 2016, construction of the new laboratory space of Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases located in the B4 floor of the outpatient building was completed, designed in accordance with highest international standards. More than 30 laboratories in the new space allow 260 people to conduct research simultaneously. It is also equipped with different function modules such as biobank, office and conference rooms. With regard to the security system, the surveillance cameras were installed throughout the space and connected to the central control room. The automatic ventilation system can be customized to meet the requirements of individual lab and researcher, with a well-controlled noise level of 40-50 decibel. The new laboratory space will provide world-class environment for the scientist to work especially conducting research, facilitating the branding of Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung and Blood Vessel Diseases and Capital Medical University Affiliated Beijing Anzhen Hospital.
