The Research Department of Health Food Function Evaluation was established in November 2007. The Department undertakes the evaluation of human body functionality of health food items. The Department is designed to fully use and properly allocate human resources. Besides its administrative goal, the Department also provides impartial third-party evaluation and supervision for the functionality of dietary supplements, thereby improving the inspection level of dietary supplements.

Since its establishment, the Department has cooperated with the Chinese Center for Disease Control, the Institute of Nutrition and Food Safety, and Beijing Union University, among others. The Department has completed over 20 health care body function tasting tests, and has compiled data from over 100 patients with hyperlipidemia. The Department has participated also in the revised Health Food Inspection and Evaluation of Technical Specifications program for the Ministry of Health, China.
