Beijing Biomedical Engineering, a professional journal, is sponsored by the Beijing Society of Biomedical Engineering and the Beijing Institute of Heart, Lung, and Blood Vessel Diseases under the guidance of the Beijing Municipal Health Bureau. This journal was founded in 1981 as one of the earliest journals in the biomedical engineering field and has been published continuously for more than 33 years. Beijing Biomedical Engineering is a 112-page bimonthly publication distributed both nationally and internationally and is included in the core scientific and technology journals of Chinese Science and Technology Journal Citation Reports.

Beijing Biomedical Engineering is aimed at introducing new technologies and recent progress and trends in developments in the field of biomedical engineering as well as promoting international academic exchanges. Each issue features peer-reviewed original and review articles of investigations, laboratory and clinical trials, and an introduction to new technologies in biomaterials, biomechanics, artificial organs, medical imaging, bio-information and control, pharmaceutical engineering, and technology of Chinese medical engineering.

The editorial board seeks to build a high-level, high-speed academic exchange platform for readers and authors of the journal, who include scientists, clinical engineers, medical doctors, teachers and students at biomedical engineering universities, and technical personnel from related areas. The Editorial Committee includes Editor-in-Chief Professor Sun Yanqing, Deputy Editor-in-Chief Professor Lin Changyan, 2 Academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and 45 other professors and experts in the biomedical engineering field throughout the country.
